App: Focus Launcher (dev.inception.focuslauncher), a home-screen replacement for Android.
This document explains what data Focus Launcher accesses, what it does with it, and what leaves your device. The short version: the app works entirely on your phone, has no account, no ads and no analytics, and the only thing it ever sends anywhere is an optional, approximate location to fetch the weather.
| Data | Why the app uses it | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Your settings and home-screen layout (favourites, dock, theme, widgets) | to show your home screen the way you set it up | app storage on your phone |
| The list of installed apps | to list, launch and let you organise your apps — the core function of a launcher | read from Android when needed; the app keeps your favourites, hidden apps and per-app limits |
| App usage statistics (which apps you used, for how long, how often) | screen-time stats, daily limits, the onboarding "mirror" | read from Android's usage stats; daily summaries are stored in the app's local database |
| Mindful-app settings, focus sessions, categories | the features you configure | app storage on your phone |
| Name of the app currently in front (via the accessibility service, only if you enable it) | to show your pause/blocked screen for a limited app, and to lock the screen on double-tap | processed in memory only; never stored |
None of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else. There is no account and no cloud sync.
Weather (optional). If you turn the weather widget on and grant location permission, the app sends your approximate (coarse) location — or the city you typed — to the Open-Meteo API (https://open-meteo.com) over an encrypted connection to fetch a forecast. We do not receive, store or log this data; it is used only to answer that request. Open-Meteo's own handling is described in their privacy policy. You can turn the widget off or revoke location permission at any time; the app works fully without it.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — screen-time stats and per-app limits. Granted by you in system settings; processed on device. You can export your settings and screen-time history to a file you choose (and import it later). That file is created only when you ask for it, is stored where you put it, and is not sent to us.
Everything the app holds is on your phone. Settings → Reset all erases the app's data; uninstalling removes it entirely. Because we keep no data on any server, there is nothing else to delete.
Focus Launcher is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 18.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at https://focus-launcher.inception.dev/privacy with an updated effective date.
